Welcome to #NZreadaloud Term 1 2022

Welcome to the official Blog for #NZraTomo.

This compelling, realistic and heart-thumping story by Mary-anne Scott was released in October 2021.

With themes of perseverance, believing in self, bravery, and family all suit a beginning year literacy focus.

An underlying theme throughout the book of respect for the environment, sustainability, and 'living green' are also worthy of unpacking and could be a valuable spark to some cross-curricula learning for your kids.

I look forward to teachers and kids posting their learning, thoughts, and work to this Blog. It would be equally as awesome if others would come in and comment / reply to posts so this Blog comes alive!

  1. Hi I’m Brooky a Year 7 student at Tamatea Intermediate.

I think the colours on the front cover of ‘The Tomo’ mean….

I think black means a dark point in their lives or something very sad might happen.

I think white means at the end of everything there is a bright part or something happy or something to cheer them up.

After reading the blurb of the story ‘The Tomo’ it seems very interesting and action packed. I think during the book there will always be something entertaining to keep everyone hooked in. What do you predict will happen in the text and why?
